DEADLINES

For selection purposes, the VHS tape or DVD preview copy must be received by -
Early submissions    :
films submitted before December 15, 2005 - entry fee $25
Late submissions:
films submitted after December 16, 2005 - entry fee $35

Student film (student must be currently enrolled or no more than one year past graduation) – films must be submitted before January 15,2006 - entry fee $25

For selected films, the 35mm print must be received no later than February1, 2006.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In addition, you must submit the following 3 items for each film entry:
One completed, three-page, signed film entry application form
One entry fee per film

Two (DVD or VHS) preview copies of your film

The film lender declares that she/he is empowered to lend the print of the film now entered and commits to refrain  from withdrawing the film from the Festival. The lender further commits to and agrees with the following:

the print must be sent in the format so indicated

  • entrants must cover the expenses related to transportation of the documentation, preview CD or tape and, later,  the 35mm print (or video or DVD, by agreement only) to the Festival (indicate "No Commercial Value")
  • RIFF will cover the expenses related to the return or forwarding of the film print after the last festival showing.
  • Upon notification that RIFF has accepted your film, you must email immediately the following for publicity purposes: 
    Synopsis, Cast/Credit information, Bios of directors, producer, writer, and stars, and one still photo from the film,  to the address that will be provided to you.
  • The number of screenings, days and venue are at the sole discretion of RIFF
  • Acceptance of this film for the Festival does not guarantee airline or hotel accommodations for talent or production crew

g) RIFF reserves the right to complete any information not supplied by the filmmaker from whatever source available and will not be responsible if incorrect information is entered.

h) Submission tapes or DVDs will not be returned.

i) Every reasonable effort will be made to protect films and tapes shown at the Riverside International Film Festival  from damage or loss, but RIFF, its management, or its juries cannot assume liability for damage or loss.

ENTRY FEES

Each entry must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee. Entry fees are not refundable. Fees cover registration,  notification that your entry has been received, and notification of results. These fees may be paid by check,  money order, or cashier's check, made payable to Riverside International Film Festival.

Student film (student must be currently enrolled or no more than one year past graduation)

  • $25 All other films
  • $35 for films submitted before December 30, 2006
  • $50 for films submitted December 30, 2005 - January 21, 2006
JUDGING AND SELECTION

The RIFF Film Selection Committee selects the films for public presentation at the Riverside International Film Festival.  If a film is selected for screening, RIFF will notify the entrant by phone, fax, or email. For publication and publicity purposes,  selected entrants will be required to immediately supply at least one black and white or color print from the film, and a  photograph of the film's director. Any publicity materials that are available and a complete credit list are also required.

AWARDS
The Digiquest Award is for a movie that currently exists only on DVD or video which the judges deem especially important  and worthy of conversion to 35mm. The work will be converted by Digiquest. The value of this prize is approximately $50,000.
