Poster Competition Winner Announced by Riverside International Film Festival
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Local resident Don Daniels has been selected as the winner of the Riverside International Film Festival’s (RIFF) 2010 Poster Competition. His poster will be used widely for publicity, on the RIFF website, in postcards, and on the RIFF program. Prints may also be made available for sale at the festival.
In winning the contest, Mr. Daniels beat out 16 other entries to earn the $250 prize. The competition was judged by Principal Dale Kinnear, Judge Roger Luebs, Professor Susan Straight, and included a public participatory vote during Arts Walk in Downtown Riverside. Mr. Daniels’ entry was selected based on three criteria – relevance to the theme of the film festival, originality, and artistic excellence.
"Seeing the variety of the posters entered and the hard work that went into creating them impressed the judges and me,” said Dr. Harki Dhillon, RIFF President, “In particular, Mr. Daniels’ poster vividly depicted the theme of the Festival – ‘Experience the World in Ten Days’.”
The 8th annual RIFF launches April 16 and continues through April 25, 2010.The best of international and independent features, documentaries, and shorts will be shown at UltraStar Cinemas in the University Village at 1201 University Avenue, Riverside, CA, 92507. The entire University Village plaza is excited to participate in RIFF and plans are underway to highlight the “Experience the World in 10 Days” theme throughout the plaza.
